India has said there will be no change in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's plan to visit Belgium on March 30 even as it issued a travel advisory for its citizens in the wake of the deadly twin terror attacks in Brussels.
Modi will visit Brussels as scheduled, the Indian External Affairs Ministry said Tuesday, hours after the terror attacks that left at least 34 people dead and more than 200 injured.
The Indian prime minister is scheduled to travel to Belgium for the 13th India-European Union Summit.
The External Affairs Ministry said Modi will hold bilateral meeting with Belgian leaders, following an invitation from Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel, during his visit there.
India has issued a travel advisory, urging Indian nationals living in Brussels or visiting it to exercise caution and remain alert in view of the terror attacks.
The advisory, issued by the Indian Embassy in Brussels, specifically asked Indians in Belgium to avoid visiting crowded places, especially the city centres, and refrain from unnecessary travels and using public transport.
"All members of the Indian community, including Indian travellers to Belgium, are requested to exercise caution and alertness while leading their normal lives and carrying out their ordinary work outdoors in this country," the advisory said. Endit
