A third, unexploded, bomb was found at Brussels airport during a search of the terminal building on Tuesday, said Lowijk De Witte, governor of the Flemish Brabant region, where the airport is located.

De Witte said at a press conference: "We have experienced a tragic day. We all knew that the terrorist threat was real in Belgium, but certainly not of a magnitude seen today." (Belgium-Bombs)

UNITED NATIONS -- UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Tuesday strongly condemned terrorist bombings in Brussels, calling for bringing those responsible to justice.

At least 34 people were killed in a series of attacks in Brussels on Tuesday morning. So far, 14 died in a suicide attack at Brussels national airport, while 20 were killed in a subway explosion. (UN-Belgium-Terrorist bombings)

ANKARA -- Turkey captured 10 suspected Islamic State (IS) militants, including a suicide bomber, near the Syrian border on Tuesday, the Turkish Armed Forces announced.

The IS militants who were allegedly trying to illegally cross into Turkey were captured in Gaziantep province at the Syrian frontier, the military said, adding the suicide bomber reportedly had a bomb setup on him ready to explode. (Turkey-IS)

BUJUMBURA -- A senior Burundian army officer was shot dead on Tuesday morning in the compound of the army chief of staff's office in the capital Bujumbura, an official statement has said.

Lieutenant Colonel Darius Ikurakure was assassinated by "a criminal in military uniform", who later ran away "via a hospital" close to the office, according to the statement issued by Army Chief of Staff Prime Niyongabo. (Burundi-Army) Endi
