U.S. Homeland Security chief says no known threat of Brussels-type attack in U.S.

U.S. Homeland Security chief Jeh Johnson said on Tuesday no intelligence indicated that there was any plot to conduct attacks inside the United States similar to the terrorist attacks in Brussels.

"At present, we have no specific, credible intelligence of any plot to conduct similar attacks here in the United States," said Johnson in a statement.

However, Johnson said the U.S. Transportation Security Administration was deploying "additional security" to major city airports and transit stations across the country.

A number of other security measures currently taken by the authorities were not suitable for public disclosure, he added.

At least 34 people were killed in explosions on Tuesday at Brussels airport and on a city subway train. The Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the attacks. Endit
