Chinese police to crack down on asset encroachment crimes

The Ministry of Public Security (MPS) on Tuesday announced that it will launch a special campaign to crack down on theft, robbery, fraud and handling of stolen goods.
The nationwide campaign will start on April 1 and last for three years. Instances of asset encroachment crime have continued to rise, the MPS said. Statistics from the ministry show theft, robbery and fraud accounted for 84 percent of all criminal cases in 2015.
Crime syndicates, which are often forged through location or blood links, often travel across the country to commit crimes; while mobile phone market, used cars and jewelry processing shops were used to process stolen goods, according to the MPS.
The campaign aims to strike a severe blow to cross-regional gang crime, street crimes and recidivism, and slash the rising trend, the MPS said. Endi
