Algeria condemns "cowardly" Brussels bombings

Xinhua, March 23, 2016 Adjust font size:

Algeria on Tuesday condemned "cowardly and heinous terrorist attacks" that struck the Belgian capital of Brussels, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

"The attacks that struck this morning the Belgian capital of Brussels are cowardly and despicable terrorist acts, which Algeria strongly condemns," says the statement.

"This attack once again shows the evil face of terrorism whose blindness and hatred is displayed through terrorist acts against human lives and common values of humanity," it added.

"While supporting the Kingdom of Belgium and the Belgian people, Algeria extends condolences to the family members of victims, and reiterates its rejection of terrorism and commitments to cooperation with all international actors to eradicate it," Foreign Ministry specified.

Algeria suggests that "the global fight against terrorism must take into account removing the roots that provide this evil with harmful effect and destructive capacity," concluded the source.

Brussels was rocked on Tuesday morning by several terrorist attacks, as bombings targeted a metro station and the international airport. Local media reported that the attacks killed more than 30 people, and injured more than 200. Endit
