Benin's President-Elect Patrice Talon announced on Monday that he will prioritize constitutional reforms during his first five years of presidency.

Talon, 58, was speaking in Cotonou after being declared the winner of Benin's presidential runoff poll with 65.39 percent, defeating his challenger, outgoing Prime Minister Lionel Zinsou, who took 34.61 percent.

"In the next few days, after the Constitutional Court announces the final results, we shall lay out our action plan, especially with regards to constitutional reforms," he said.

Talon reiterated his determination to restore a climate of trust between Benin's new authorities and the country's technical and financial partners.

"At the same time, we shall restore our values of good governance to attract more partners to work with us in different sectors," he added. Enditem
