About 1,600 more police personnel and gendarmes are deployed across France to reinforce security after Brussels attacks, French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve announced Tuesday.
After an emergency security meeting headed by French President Francois Hollande, Cazeneuve said "instructions have been given to all prefectures, demanding them to take all necessary measures to ensure securities in train stations, public transports, airports and ports".
Cazeneuve also announced four concrete measures in order to secure public transports.
"The access to stations, airports and public transport will be reserved for people with ticket or an ID. In these places, checks and body searches will be carried out systematically. Prevention messages will also be broadcast by the SNCF and RATP operators to the public," he said.
"Under the Plan Sentinelle, the security forces will be redirected to specific locations," the interior minister added.
According to him, 400 policemen are already deployed in Ile-de-France region, especially in the two main airports and public transports.
At least 26 people were killed and 136 injured in explosions on Tuesday at Brussels airport and on a city subway train, according to the latest figures published by Belgian media. Endit
