China maintains blue alert for rainstorms

Xinhua, March 22, 2016 Adjust font size:

China's meteorological authority on Tuesday maintained a blue alert, its lowest-level alert, for rainstorms in southern parts of the country.

Rainstorms and torrential rain will hit parts of Guangdong, Guangxi, Hunan, Jiangxi and Fujian from Tuesday afternoon to Wednesday afternoon, with precipitation of up to 150 mm, said the National Meteorological Center (NMC).

The NMC said that thunderstorms, strong wind and hail will accompany the rain.

China has a four-tier color-coded warning system for severe weather, with red being the most serious, followed by orange, yellow and blue. Endi
