The following are highlights of South African major media outlets on Tuesday.

-- Three organizations representing ruling African National Congress (ANC) stalwarts issued a powerful appeal to the party to implement urgent "corrective" actions against state capture and other threats to democracy.

Tourism Minister Derek Hanekom's name -- on behalf of the Ahmed Kathrada Foundation -- is listed at the end of the letter that was sent to the National Executive Committee. (City Press)

-- President Jacob Zuma and his supporters managed to railroad the ANC's executive into toning down strident criticism of the Gupta family and its influence on Zuma.
