Czech police sends second group to Macedonia to guard border

Xinhua, March 22, 2016 Adjust font size:

Czech police on Monday sent its second group of 27 police officers to Macedonia to help in the town of Gevgelija near the border with Greece where a refugee camp is situated, Czech deputy police president Petr Petrik said.

The main task of the Czech police officers will be guarding the border against the arrival of illegal migrants. They are also in charge of keeping order in migrant camps, said Petrik.

The latest team of Czech police officers includes two women. Two police dogs are also part of the contingent.

The group will replace their colleagues who served along the Balkan route since the beginning of February.

Besides Macedonia, there are also Czech police teams in Slovenia, Hungary and Greek islands where there are registration hotspots for refugees. Endit
