Myanmar President-elect U Htin Kyaw will submit a list of nominees for cabinet posts to the Union Parliament on Thursday for approval, the ruling National League for Democracy (NLD) confirmed Monday.

The party has finalized the process of selecting persons for the ministerial posts in the cabinet and the positions of chief ministers in regions and states, NLD spokesperson Dr. Zaw Myint Maung revealed after a meeting of the NLD Central Executive Committee (CEC).

Some members of the former ruling party, the Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP), will also be appointed as ministers, said U Win Htein, an NLD CEC member.

Meanwhile, U Htin Kyaw is due to make a speech in the parliament Monday clarifying his proposal of new government formation submitted last Thursday. According to the proposal, 21 ministries will be formed and 18 ministers named, a cut from 36 and 32 respectively in the outgoing government. Endit
