Denmark loses to Romania in Olympic handball qualifier

Denmark lost to Romania 32-25 in its first women's handball qualifying match for the Rio 2016 Olympics at Ceres Arena in Aarhus, Denmark on Friday.

Romania took the lead from the beginning, gaining an 8-3 edge in just nine minutes of play. The rest of the first half was a splendid show by the Romanian team who maintained a comfortable lead 19-13 by the interval.

The tendency continued after the interval and the Romanian extended the lead to 10 goals at 32-22 only four minutes before the end of the game.

Earlier on Friday, Montenegro beat Uruguay 34-19 in the other Rio Olympic qualifier at Ceres Arena.

Denmark will take on Montenegro in its second qualifier on Saturday and is scheduled to play Uruguay in the third and final of the qualification matches on Sunday. Endit
