Court penalty defaulters forced to pay 3.68 bln yuan

Xinhua, March 19, 2016 Adjust font size:

A campaign enforcing court judgements ensured that 3.68 billion yuan (56.4 million U.S. dollars) in default was paid to victims in cases involving unpaid wages and compensation for medical negligence and traffic accidents between Dec. 1, 2015 and Feb. 15.

The payments concerned 89,633 cases, the Supreme People's Court said in a statement.

The campaign will be repeated every year around the Chinese New Year holiday, with employers commonly defaulting on salaries due to migrant workers as they prepare to return home for the holiday. Endi
