U.S. Air Force personnel at nuke base suspended for illegal drug activity

Xinhua, March 19, 2016 Adjust font size:

The U.S. Air Force had suspended 14 airmen of the nuclear weapons security force in Wyoming due to an investigation of illegal drug activity, the Pentagon said on Friday.

The 14 junior enlisted airmen were members of the security force assigned to the 90th Missile Wing, and their responsibilities included securing F.E. Warren Air Force Base in Wyoming, as well as its surrounding missile complex, said Air Force General Robin Rand at a conference call with reporters.

"The investigation began after an airman became aware of the suspected drug activity and promptly alerted (authorities)," said Rand.

The authorities declined to detail the names of the drugs involved. Enditem
