Singapore stocks close 0.17 pct higher

Singapore stocks finished higher on Wednesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) up 4.77 points, or 0.17 percent, to close at 2,844.21.

A total of 1.3 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 741.1 million Singapore dollars (537 million U.S. dollars).

Gainers outnumbered decliners 201 to 196, while 524 others finished unchanged.

The STI index lost 7.62 points, or 0.27 percent, to close at 2,839.44 on Tuesday. Enditem
