Myanmar's military on Wednesday congratulated U Htin Kyaw of the National League for Democracy (NLD) for being elected as president for next five years.

The announcement, issued by the office of the Commander in Chief of Defence Services, said that the military takes pride over the election.

The statement said the military will collaborate with U Htin Kyaw and his government in the state's stability, unity and development process.
