Brazilian president holds Cabinet meeting after anti-gov't protests

Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff held a Cabinet meeting Monday to discuss Sunday's mass anti-government protests across the country.

Over 1 million people participated in protests in hundreds of towns across Brazil against the Rousseff administration and called for the president's impeachment. Sunday's protests were the largest in scale against Rousseff.

Apart from mass protests, the embattled president is also facing the disintegration of her ruling coalition and strong challenge from opposition. Her main ally, the Brazilian Democratic Movement Party, has announced to quit the administration.

The president late Sunday released a statement, saying that the freedom of assembly is a characteristic of democracy. Endi
