Erdogan cancels visit to Azerbaijan again due to terrorist attack

Xinhua, March 15, 2016 Adjust font size:

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has canceled his visit to Azerbaijan slated for Tuesday, said the Turkish Embassy in Baku.

Erdogan was expected to arrive in Baku on Tuesday to attend a Turkey-Azerbaijan high-level cooperation council meeting.

It is the second time this year that Erdogan canceled his visit to Azerbaijan due to terrorist attacks in his own country.

Last month the Turkish president called off his Baku trip scheduled for Feb. 18 owing to an attack in Ankara on the previous day.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has condemned the latest suicide car bomb attack on Sunday in Turkey, which left at least 37 people dead and 125 wounded.

Turkish security forces have reportedly arrested 18 suspects following the attack near a bus stop in the heart of Ankara. Endi
