Zinsou, Talon to face off in Benin presidentian runoff

Benin's Prime Minister Lionel Zinsou and businessman Patrice Talon are qualified for the runoff presidential election scheduled for Sunday, said the Constitutional Court on Sunday.

None of the 33 candidates in the first round of the presidential race gained absolute majority and Zinsou and Talon obtained the largest number of votes, court Chairman Theodore Holo said in Cotonou, the country's economic capital.

Provisional results show that Zinsou outpolled Talon 858,080 to 746,528.

Vote turnout was 66 percent in the first round on March 6.

For other major candidates, Sebastien Ajavon, Abdoulaye Bio Tchane and Pascal Koupaki won 693,084, 262,389, and 177,251 votes respectively. Endi
