New Zealand Customs finds 1.5 kg narcotics at Auckland airport

Baby carriers and boxes of neckties were found to be concealing about 1.5 kilograms of methamphetamine when they arrived in New Zealand, Customs officials said Monday.
Customs officers allegedly found the illegal drugs haul in the baggage of a 20-year-old Latvian man when he arrived at Auckland Airport on a flight from Dubai on Saturday.
The amount of methamphetamine had a street value of around 1.5 million NZ dollars (1 million U.S. dollars).
"In this instance, it was very good work from our airport officers in profiling the passenger and inspecting his baggage contents. Customs continues to focus on high risk passengers and goods, and every seizure is a win and success for us," Customs investigations manager Maurice O'Brien said in a statement. Enditem
