CSL roundup: Jiangsu grabs 2nd win, SIPG ties Greenland in Shanghai derby

Xinhua, March 11, 2016 Adjust font size:

Star-studded Jiangsu Suning beat the newly-promoted Yanbian 2-1 at home while SIPG tied Greenland 1-1 in Shanghai derby in the second round of 2015 Chinese Super League (CSL) on Friday.

Jiangsu broke the deadlock in the 36th minute with Zhang Xiaobin's close-range shot on Sammir's pass. Just after the inveral, Yanbian's Ha Tae-Goon squandered two brilliant chances for an equalizer. He hit the woodwork first and missed a penalty three minutes later.

South Korean striker Yoon Bit-Garam pulled one back for Yanbian in the 62nd but Li Ang's superb strike helped Jiangsu lead again and enjoy the second straight win of the season.

In Shanghai derby, Giovanni Moreno's header put Greenland 1-0 only six minutes into the game. On 42 minutes, SIPG's free kick caused a goalmouth melee and Cai Huikang tied the score with a header.

Elsewhere, Shandong Luneng beat Liaoning Whowin 3-2 at home. Enditem
