Morocco to invest 30 bln USD on renewable energy over next 15 yrs

Morocco has allocated 40 billion U.S. dollars for investment programs in the energy sector for the next 15 years, including 30 billion for renewable energy, Minister of Energy, Mining, Water and Environment, Abdelkader Amara, said on Friday.

He noted that the North African Kingdom has also designed 30 billion dollars worth water infrastructure in the same period, Amara pointed out during the opening ceremony of a Morocco-France economic meeting held in Casablanca.

Morocco has been an active advocate for energy transition in Africa and the world, he said, referring to the objective of securing 42 percent of the country's energy mix from renewable sources by 2020 has recently been increased to 52 pc by 2030.

"Morocco and France worked hand in hand for the success of COP21 and continue to work closely to ensure the success of COP 22", he said, calling on boosting bilateral joint ventures in promoting clean energy production. Endit
