A Palestinian youth was arrested Friday after he stabbed and wounded an Israeli man in East Jerusalem's Old City, Israeli authorities said.
The youth stabbed a 29-year-old Jew in the Muslim Quarter, leaving him with light-to-moderate shoulder injuries, said Zaki Heller, a spokesman for the emergency medical service.
Police spokeswoman Luba Samri identified the attacker as a 19-year-old male from the West Bank village of Qabalan, north of Ramallah.
He fled the scene, but the police tracked him down via Mabat 2000, an extensive network of surveillance cameras that Israel has deployed in the Old City, and he was hiding in one of the Old City's narrow alleys and taken into custody, unharmed, Samri said.
The incident was the latest in a six-month-long violence as Palestinians were accused of carrying out alleged stabbing, shooting, and car-ramming attacks against the Israelis.
At least 180 Palestinians, 28 Israelis, two U.S. citizens, a Sudanese, and an Eritrean have been killed in the bloodshed. Endite
