Slovakia records lowest trade surplus since 2011

Xinhua, March 10, 2016 Adjust font size:

Slovakia's foreign trade recorded a surplus of 3.303 billion euros (3.67 billion U.S. dollars) in 2015, the worst result since 2011, stated the Slovak Statistics Office in a report on Thursday.

"Total exports grew by 4.9 percent year-on-year to 67.865 billion euros, while total imports increased by 7.6 percent to 64.562 billion euros," said the Slovak Statistics Office.

Slovakia mainly exports to western countries and imports from the East. According to statistics, this is visible from the balance of trade surpluses and deficits. In 2015, Slovakia had the highest trade surpluses with Germany, 5.592 billion euros, Great Britain, 2.738 billion euros, and Poland 2.448 billion euros.

Conversely, Slovakia reported the highest trade deficits vis-a-vis China, 4.41 billion euros, South Korea 4.144 billion euros and Russia 2.025 billion euros. Endit
