Chinese in Angola sets up fund for local orphans

Xinhua, March 9, 2016 Adjust font size:

The Chinese women's association in Angola has set up a fund for Angolan orphans, raising some 100,000 U.S. dollars for the fund.

The association on Tuesday night held a party in southern Luanda to mark the International Women's Day. The Chinese entrepreneurs present donated 15.16 million kwanzas (some 100,000 U.S. dollars) to the fund.

Xue Zhimei, secretary general of the association, said the donation would be used as the starting money for their charity efforts.

She said her association would work with the Angolan government and local charity organizations to help orphans in need.

Xue called on the Chinese communities in Angola to contribute to the fund for orphans as well as the most vulnerable people in the African country.

The association was established in the capital Luanda in June 2015. Endit
