Xinhua, March 9, 2016 Adjust font size:

Indian police Tuesday said a 15-year old girl was struggling for life after being allegedly raped and set ablaze by neighbour on the terrace of her house.

The horrifying incident took place on early Monday in Noida in the outskirts of New Delhi, the Indian capital city.

"The girl has suffered severe burn injuries on her body and her condition is stated to be critical," a police official in Noida told Xinhua.

Police have arrested a 20-year-old man suspected of raping and attempting to kill the girl by burning her.

"The man has been booked for several offences which include rape, attempted murder, assault of a minor, etc," the police official said. "The girl in her statement to police said that she was raped and then set on fire by the man, who was stalking her for past several months."

The latest case is just one of the reported cases of sexual offence against women.
