A woman who was attacked by a crocodile at an Australian wildlife sanctuary in north Queensland is expected to make a full recovery.
Renee Robertson, a 25-year-old wildlife handler at Billabong Sanctuary in Townsville, was bitten on the arm by the 2.5-meter long crocodile named Tipper on Monday.
She was overseeing a feeding show when the attack took place.
The woman suffered a serious arm injury but was fully conscious when officers arrived, said Queensland state ambulance service senior operations supervisor Ross MacDonald.
"We understand she was backed into the corner somehow and the crocodile had a go at her," MacDonald said.
Billabong Sanctuary owner Bob Flemming told the ABC there was no nerve damage, so that was the best news he could have had.
"We're very, very fortunate that she's going to fully recover."
A spokesperson for Townsville hospital said the woman was in a stable condition on Tuesday morning.
Video footage taken by a visitor at the sanctuary shows the crocodile grabbing onto Robertson's arm as she screams in pain, while another ranger hits the animal on the head with a stick.
Eight people who witnessed the attack were treated for shock.
Both the sanctuary and Queensland state workplace officials will investigate the attack. Endit
