Hawks beat Clippers in 107-97 victory

Xinhua, March 6, 2016 Adjust font size:

A night after a blowout victory over the Los Angeles Lakers, the Atlanta Hawks beat the Los Angeles Clippers 107-97 Saturday night at Staples Center.

The Clippers scored 37 first-quarter points and jumped out to a 17-point lead early in the second quarter but went cold late in the first half and last in the second half, while the Hawks took advantage and ended the game with an impressive fourth-quarter showing.

"I thought it was the last four minutes in the first half. I think that is when we lost the lead," Clippers Head Coach Doc Rivers said to media after the game. "They cut it to five and I thought they came out in the second half with more energy."

All five starters scored in double figures for the Clippers, including DeAndre Jordan and Chris Paul with 17 each. Center Jordan also had 11 rebounds and Paul 11 assists.

"We ended up giving up a lead, which is tough...We had 'it' (energy) in the beginning of the game. We have to have 'it' for 48 minutes and we didn't," Jordan said. "They made us work throughout the shot clock and they got a lot of offensive rebounds. "

The Hawks have won two straight and four of their past five games. The Hawks point guard Jeff Teague scored a game-high 22 points with seven assists and six rebounds. The Hawks forward Paul Millsap had 20 points and a season-high 18 rebounds. Endit
