At least 24 people, mostly children, were killed and dozens were missing in Angola after a rain-caused flood swept through a market in the city of Lubango, capital of the southern Lubango province, according to reports reaching Luanda on Thursday.
Flood-waters from the Capitao river caused by nearly 24 hours of torrential rains in the area washed through the market, where many young Angolans congregated to wash cars and bicycles. (Angola-Flood)

ATHENS -- European Council President Donald Tusk voiced solidarity with Greece on the management of its growing refugee crisis during a visit here on Thursday ahead of the EU summit next Monday.

KABUL -- A bloody conflict between security forces and Taliban militants have claimed the lives of 10 armed insurgents in the northern Jauzjan province, while a bomb blast attributed to the Taliban outfit injured 24 civilians in the neighboring Balkh province on Thursday, officials said.
"Ten Taliban fighters have been killed and five others injured as a clash erupted in Qukal Dash area of Faizabad district, Jauzjan province Thursday morning," a security official, Zabit Khan told Xinhua. (Afghanistan-Taliban-Conflict)

ANKARA -- Three members of the Turkish security forces and eight militants of the outlawed Kurdish Workers' Party (PKK) were killed Wednesday in clashes in southeastern Turkey, authorities said Thursday.
