Xinhua, March 3, 2016 Adjust font size:

Brazilian clubs Corinthians and Gremio both claimed their victories in the Copa Libertadores, South America's premier club competition Wednesday evening.

Corinthians, the current Brazilian league champions, took the second consecutive win with a 1-0 victory over Colombia outfit Santa Fe.

Guilherme scored the sole goal in a tough encounter, meaning the Timao took top spot in Group 8. Next up for Corinthians is an away tie against second placed Cerro Porteno on 9 March.

Down in Porto Alegre and following defeat in their Libertadores opener, Gremio recorded a 4-0 thrashing over Ecuadorian side LDU Quito.

New signing Bolanos was on the scoresheet and the emphatic victory helped the side take second place in Group 6.

Gremio's next encounter in the continental tournament is a home battle against bottom side San Lorenzo of Argentina, who won the Libertadores in 2014. Endit
