Three-way tie for lead at OneAsia School

Xinhua, March 3, 2016 Adjust font size:

Australian Michael Choi stayed on top of the leaderboard of the OneAsia Qualifying School after the third round on Thursday but was joined by American Mark Baldwin and South Korean Eunho Youm.

Choi, the leader by one at the start of the day, shot a one-over-par 72 for a tournament total of level-par 213.

Baldwin carded a 69 while Youm came in with a 71 at Sutera Harbour Golf and Country Club in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.

First-round leader Jinwoo Park from South Korea is one stroke back in outright fourth place after carding a 71.

Australian Jamie Arnold and Roberto Gallett are tied for fifth a further shot behind.

The 72-hole qualifying school will finish on Friday.

OneAsia will stage at least nine events this year with the winner of the Qualifying School eligible for all tournaments while players ranked second and third will be exempt for most events.

Players finishing from fourth to 20th spot will be eligible for membership and be exempt for some tournaments.

In addition, graduates will gain even greater access to tournament golf in the region following an exciting new tie up with the ASEAN PGA Tour.

The top-15 from the Qualifying School will be eligible to play in four ASEAN PGA events played in Thailand in 2016, namely the Singha Hua Hin Open, the Singha Pattaya Open, the Singha Esan Open and the Singha Phuket Open.

These tournaments have long been some of the leading events on the ASEAN PGA Tour and are promoted by Sports Management Group (SMG) in Thailand.

OneAsia begins this year with the Volvo China Open at Topwin Golf & Country Club from April 28 to May 1. Endit
