Marriott enters Lithuanian market

International hospitality company Marriott entered Lithuanian market by opening its first hotel in the Baltic States, Lithuania's authorities announced on Wednesday.

The first Marriott branded hotel is to be opened in Palanga sea resort, Western Lithuania, the municipality of Palanga announced in its press release.

Municipality officials, the operator of the hotel and a local real estate company are to sign a cooperation agreement on developing the project, informed the municipality.

"The hotel operated by SPA Vilnius, a pioneer of SPA centers in Lithuania, will focus on wellness," said the municipality.

Palanga's authority revealed investments into the hotel are to amount to around 20 million euros.

The first Marriott hotel will be built in Palanga center by the end of 2018, the hospitality network is also expected to enter Vilnius, Lithuanian capital, in coming years, according to local media reports. Endit
