Implementing Schengen rules foundation of EU solution to migrant crisis: Tusk

Xinhua, March 2, 2016 Adjust font size:

Visiting European Council President Donald Tusk said on Wednesday there is no alternative on implementing Schengen rules to deal with migrant crisis.

He said at joint news conference with Croatian Prime Minister Tihomir Oreskovic that Schengen rules have no alternative and the implementation of those rules can be the foundation for a comprehensive European solution to the crisis.

He pledged assistance to Macedonia, which has been hit by a huge influx of migrants.

Zagreb is third stop of Tusk's tour of the Balkan migrant route which had brought him to Vienna and Ljubljana. He will visit Skopje, the capital of Macedonia, ahead of an EU-Turkey summit meeting on migrant issue scheduled for next week. Enditem
