China defeated Chinese Taipei for their fifth straight win in the women's event here on Wednesday at the 2016 World Team Table Tennis Championships, maintaining their unbeaten record in the past four days.

Li Xiaoxia, who has started to come into her own, took a comfortable win over Liu Hsing-Yin from Chinese Taipei at 11-2, 11-6 and 11-8.

Li's teammates Ding Ning and Liu Shiwen also ousted their respective opponents Lin Chia-Hui and Cheng Hsien-Tzu easily at both 3-0, ensuring their topping in Group A.

Kong Linghui, head coach of the Chinese women's team, said the team's performance is normal, adding that Li played quite actively on Wednesday, which was a good phenomenon.

The 24 men's and women's teams were drawn into four groups of six teams apiece for the first stage of the 2016 World Team Table Tennis Championships which runs from Feb. 28 to March 6.
