Singapore stocks close 1.66 pct higher

Singapore stocks finished higher on Wednesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) up 44.57 points, or 1.66 percent, to close at 2,726.96.

A total of 1.98 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 1.52 billion Singapore dollars (1.09 billion U.S. dollars).

Gainers outnumbered decliners 285 to 124, while 512 others finished unchanged.

The STI index gained 15.88 points, or 0.6 percent, to close at 2,682.39 on Tuesday. Enditem
