Nepal appoints Consul Generals for China's Tibet, Hong Kong

The Nepalese government has appointed Consul Generals for Lhasa of China's Tibet Autonomous Region and Special Administrative Region Hong Kong on Wednesday, a government spokesman told reporters here.
A meeting of the Council of Ministers presided by Prime Minister Khadga Prasad Sharma Oli appointed Gobinda Bahadur Karki as Consul General to Lhasa and Kamal Bhattarai as Consul General to Hong Kong, said Information Minister Sherdhan Rai, who is also the government spokesman. Karki and Bhattarai are currently joint secretaries of the Nepalese government.
Nepal has altogether three diplomatic missions in China right now, among which, two Consulate Offices are based in Lhasa of China's Tibet Autonomous Region and Special Administrative Region Hong Kong.
Similarly, Nepal has a residential embassy in the Chinese capital Beijing.
The Himalayan country has also planned to establish Consulate Office in Chengdu, capital of Sichuan province in southwestern China in near future, according to the government officials.
Wednesday's meeting of the Council of Ministers also appointed Ek Narayan Aryal as Nepal's Consul General to Calcutta of India, Rai further said. Endit
