Co-production pact to boost New Zealand, Israel screen sectors

Xinhua, March 2, 2016 Adjust font size:

A new co-production agreement with Israel is expected to have significant benefits for New Zealand's screen production sector, Arts, Culture and Heritage Minister Maggie Barry said Wednesday.

The agreement covered film, television, animation and digital productions, and provided official New Zealand-Israel co-productions with access to distribution rights and screen finance in both countries, Barry said in a statement.

Both Israeli and New Zealand films were known for their dry sense of humour, she said.

"This agreement will bring revenue to both our countries and foster stronger relationships between our screen sectors, as we share our creative expertise and technical resources," she said.

"I'm sure it will spur producers and directors to work together and break new cinematic ground."

New Zealand already had 16 co-production agreements, with Australia, Canada, China, China's Taiwan, Denmark, France, Germany, India, Ireland, Italy, Poland, South Korea, Singapore, South Africa, Spain and the United Kingdom. Endit
