Norwegian teen horse rider becomes youngest billionaire

Xinhua, March 2, 2016 Adjust font size:

A teenage equestrienne from Norway became the world's youngest billionaire, according to the annual guide to the world's richest people by Forbes.

Alexandra Andresen, 19, with her sister Katharina, 20, came into 10-figure-fortunes when their father, Johan Andresen, transferred each of them 42 percent of family-owned investment company Ferd.

Andresen, listed as the 1476th richest person in the world by Forbes Magazine on Tuesday, made the list for the first time.

Despite her 1.2 billion US dollars personal wealth, the dressage competitor appears to be more at home with her horses and lives in Germany where she rides professionally.

She is a three-time junior Norwegian champion and has won several accolades at the European Junior Riders Championships.

Andresen family had made a fortune in the tobacco industry and in 2005 the family sold its stake in the tobacco business to Skandinavisk Tobakskompagni for 480 million U.S. dollars. Today Ferd runs hedge funds, is an active investor on the Nordic stock exchange, and has private equity investments. Enditem
