Soyuz spacecraft carrying 3 ISS crew members successfully lands in Kazakhstan

Xinhua, March 2, 2016 Adjust font size:

The Soyuz TMA-18M spacecraft carrying three crew members of the International Space Station (ISS) successfully landed in Kazakhstan early Wednesday, the Russian Mission Control Center said.

Back to Earth are Russian cosmonaut Mikhail Kornienko and U.S. astronaut Scott Kelly, who spent 11 month at the ISS, as well as Russian cosmonaut Sergei Volkov, who spent six month at the station. They carried out over 50 scientific experiments during their stay at the station.

Rescuers have evacuated the three crew members from the reentry capsule.

The crew members will undergo a medical examination, after which Kornienko and Volkov will be taken to the Cosmonaut Training Center in Moscow, and Kelly will fly to the United States, the Mission Control Center said.

They are expected to be replaced by a new group of international crew members, who are scheduled to take off on March 19. Endi
