Scores of Palestinians attended the funeral processions of a Palestinian who was shot dead late Monday night by Israeli security forces during a raid into the Qalandia refugee camp, near Ramallah.

The Palestinian Health Ministry said in an emailed press statement on Tuesday that Iyad Sajadiyya, 22 years old, a journalism student at Al-Quds University, was killed while 11 others were injured during the clash and one of them in serious condition after he was shot in the chest.

"Iyad was over a building rooftop, while the Israeli security forces were getting closer and then opened fire in every direction," said Wissam Sajdiyah, Iyad's cousin, who was with him when he was shot. "Iyad got a bullet in the head," he added.

Ramallah hospital medics told Xinhua that Iyad was dead when he was rushed to the hospital due to "a direct and fatal shot in the head."

Clashes between Israeli security forces and Palestinians at the Qalandia refugee camp broke out after two Israeli soldiers mistakenly drove into the camp on Monday night, allegedly because of a navigation app. According to Israeli media, five Border Policemen were wounded in the rescue operation.

Israeli media reported that over the course of attacking from Palestinians, Palestinians set fire to the vehicle.

The two soldiers escaped from their vehicle on foot and separated each other. One of them managed to escape from the camp but the other was missing. The missing soldier was eventually found in a yard, where he had been hiding for nearly an hour, and was brought out of the camp unharmed.

A recent wave of tension broke out between Palestinians and Israel last October, killing over 180 Palestinians and about 30 Israelis. Endit
