Bayer Leverkusen's Kevin Kampl questionable for rest of season

Xinhua, March 1, 2016 Adjust font size:

Midfielder Kevin Kampl may miss the rest of the season due to a leg fracture, the "Werkself" announced in a statement via the club's official homepage on Monday.

The Slovenian international was initially diagnosed with a torn muscle in his left calf eight days ago but further examinations revealed that the injury was worse than expected.

Monday's CT examination revealed that the 25-year-old midfielder sustained a fracture of his left calf bone. As a result, Kampl's leg has been already placed in a plaster for the time being.

The "Werkself" gave no indication when Kampl is expected to return to the pitch.

Bayer Leverkusen occupy currently the 6th place in the standings. They face relegation-threatened Werder Bremen at the 24th round in Bundesliga on Wednesday.

Roger Schmidt's men advanced into the UEFA Europa League last 16 to encounter Spanish outfit Villareal on the road on March 10. Endit
