Germany's benchmark DAX index closes down

The benchmark DAX index at Frankfurt Stock Exchange on Monday went down slightly and closed at 9,495.4 points.

The G20 summit failed to produce stimulative measures for the world economy, which disappointed investors to some extent, according to local analysts. The blue-chip DAX index lost 17.9 points, or 0.19 percent.

Volkswagen topped the list of risers with an increase of 3.96 percent. Thyssenkrupp rose by 3.48 percent. K+S, a supplier of standard and specialty fertilizers, advanced by 2.38 percent. BMW gained 1.71 percent. Continental went up by 1.6 percent.

On the other hand, Deutsche Boerse lost 2.63 percent. Merck, a pharmaceutical, chemical and life science company, slipped by 1.62 percent. The utilities companies E.ON and RWE each dropped by 1.52 percent and 1.17 percent. Bayer fell by 1.43 percent. BASF went down by 1.28 percent.

Bayer was the most traded share of the day with a turnover of 312.48 million euros (around 341.49 million U.S. dollars). Enditem
