France condemns IS suicide bombings in Iraq

France reiterated its full commitment to crack down Islamic State (IS) insurgents in Iraq where a fresh assaults left dozens of victims in Baghdad, the country's foreign ministry said on Monday.

In a press release posted on the Quai d'Orsay website, France condemned Daesh (acronym for IS) suicide bombings that targeted Baghdad's mainly Shi'ite district of Sadr Cityon Sunday.

"France is actively involved in the efforts of the international coalition against Daesh within the framework of Operation Chammal and supports Iraq in the fight against terrorism," the ministry said.

Paris also expressed solidarity with Iraqi people and sent condolences to the families' victims.

France was the first European country to join United States-led coalition in September 2014 to strike Islamist militants at the request of Iraqi authorities. Endit
