Santos turn down offer for Ricardo Oliveira

Xinhua, February 24, 2016 Adjust font size:

Santos have turned down an offer from Chinese club Beijing Guoan for Brazilian international striker Ricardo Oliveira.

Club president Modesto Roma Junior has said that he will only release the 35-year-old forward if his release clause is met, believed to stand at R$218 million (Brazilian reais), around 50 million euros.

Beijing Guoan have recently signed Brazilians Ralf and Renato Augusto, both from national league champions Corinthians, and are looking to bolster their attacking options with the leading scorer in last season' s Campeonato Brasileiro, the Brazilian league championship.

The transfer window for Asian clubs to sign players from Brazil closes this Friday (26 February), and Beijing Guoan are looking for a replacement for former FC Porto and Palmeiras striker Kleber, who could leave.

Should Oliveira leave, he will not be the first Santos player to leave for Chinese football during this transfer window.

Geuvanio has already departed for Tianjin Quanjian, who joined Luis Fabiano and Jadson at the side, formerly of Sao Paulo and Corinthians respectively. Endit
