Provisional results of Comoros' first round of presidential polls announced

The provisional results of Comoros' first round of presidential elections were announced early Wednesday morning by the country's National Independent Electoral Commission (CENI).

According to the results, Mohamed Ali Soilihi, the outgoing vice-president and candidate for the Union for Democracy in Comoros (UPDC), the ruling coalition, came first with 17.61 percent.

The outgoing governor of Grand-Comoros and candidate for the Comoros Democratic Rally (RDC) Mouigni Baraka came second with 15.09 percent.

Fahmi Said Ibrahim, an independent candidate who is supported by Juwa party, came third with 14.45 percent. Endit
