Danish Vestas gets 1GW onshore order in Norway

Xinhua, February 24, 2016 Adjust font size:

Danish wind-turbine manufacturer Vestas has landed its largest order ever for delivery of 1,000 megawatts to an onshore wind power project in Norway, the company announced on Tuesday.

The order is placed by Fosen Vind DA, a joint venture company owned by Norwegian state-owned renewables producer Statkraft, TroenderEnergi and the European investor consortium Nordic Wind Power DA, and involves delivery of 278 wind turbines for six different wind farms in Norway, which combined will be Europe's largest onshore wind project to date, Vestas said in a statement.

This includes 248 units of Vestas's V117-3.45 MW and 30 units V112-3.45 MW turbines with power optimised mode to 3.6 MW.

The wind turbines will be installed on the Fosen peninsula, Snillfjord and the island of Hitra and coastal areas near Trondheim.

The contract includes supply, installation and commissioning of the wind turbines as well as a two-year customised, full-scope service agreement, followed by a 20-year service and support agreement.

Delivery of the first turbines is scheduled for the second quarter of 2018, with commissioning of the last wind power plant expected in fourth quarter of 2020, Vestas said.

The share price of Vestas at the Copenhagen Stock Exchange rose some 3 percent after the first minutes of trading on Tuesday.

Vestas is among the world's leading wind-turbine manufacturers, delivering wind energy in 75 countries worldwide. It produced and shipped 3,330 wind turbines with an capacity of 7,948 megawatts in 2015. Endit
