Parent company of major Dutch, Belgian sports retailers bankrupt

Xinhua, February 24, 2016 Adjust font size:

Unlimited Sports Group (USG), parent company of sport retailers Perry Sport, AktieSport and Primo, has been declared bankrupt by the court in Amsterdam, it was reported Tuesday.

Last Monday Unlimited Sports Group (USG), which is headquartered in Amsterdam, had already asked for deferred payment. USG is the parent company of Dutch sports stores Perry Sport and AktieSport, Timeout footwear and Belgian sports retailer Primo.

USG was founded in 2006 as a holding company with wholesale and retail companies, active in the field of sports, outdoor and lifestyle. With brands in 16 European countries and, as mentioned four retail chains, a total of 307 stores in the Benelux and a sourcing office in China's Hong Kong, USG currently employs a total of more than 2,500 people.

The respective sports shops remain open, but if there is no restart possible, all over 2,500 jobs will disappear. Several parties are reportedly interested in acquiring the bankrupt sports stores. Enditem
