20 militants killed in W. Afghanistan

Up to 20 Taliban militants have been killed in the western Badghis province over the past two days, an army spokesman in the province said on Saturday.

"A cleanup operation involving units of national army and police was launched in parts of Badghis province on Friday and so far 20 armed Taliban have been killed and 13 others injured," Shir Hamza told Xinhua.

Eight security personnel were injured during the operation which was continuing, the official admitted.

Taliban militants who are active in several districts of Badghis province, have not made comment. Enditem
