Update: 3 Palestinians killed in flaring day of Mideast violence: medics

Three Palestinians were killed and nine wounded on Friday in a flaring day of violent confrontations with Israelis, the Palestinian Health Ministry and Israeli Radio reported.

The radio said a third Palestinian was killed by Israeli soldiers' gunfire when dozens of young men threw stones at the soldiers near the village of Beit Fujar, close to Bethlehem in the West Bank.

The Palestinian Health Ministry said two more Palestinians were also shot and wounded during the clashes.

In Gaza, a health ministry spokesman said seven Palestinians were injured during clashes with Israeli soldiers stationed on the border between northern Gaza Strip and Israel.

Friday has been in a flaring day of violence that saw another two Palestinian tolls.

Earlier a Palestinian man was shot dead after allegedly trying to run over Israeli soldiers in Silwad, a Palestinian village northeast of Ramallah in the West Bank.

Before that, two Israeli policemen were injured in a stabbing attack at the Damascus Gate in the Old City of Jerusalem. The assailant, identified as a 20-year-old resident of an east Jerusalem Arab neighborhood, was killed at the scene.

The ongoing violence has claimed a toll of 31 Israelis and more than 182 Palestinians since early October, 2015. Endit
