Jordan condemns Ankara attack

Xinhua, February 18, 2016 Adjust font size:

Jordan on Thursday condemned the car bomb explosion Wednesday in Ankara, expressing solidarity with Turkey against terrorism.

At least 28 people were killed and 61 others wounded in the suicide bombing in downtown Ankara. Authorities identified the bomber as a Syrian national with "direct links" to Kurdish militants.

Jordan's Minister of State for Media Affairs Mohammad Momani called for "all possible means" to fight extremism, radical ideologies and terrorist groups killing innocent civilians and seeking to annihilate civilizations.

He reiterated Amman's repudiation of all forms of terrorism and violence, extending condolences to the Turkish people and authorities.

The Turkish military said the attack Wednesday struck military service buses transporting personnel whilst the buses stopped at a traffic light, setting at least four buses on fire within the vicinity of government buildings including the Turkish General Staff headquarters and Parliament. Endit
